Help the Poor Access Safe Water

Water is a fundamental human need. Each person on Earth requires at least 20 to 50 litres of clean, safe water a day for drinking, cooking, and simply keeping themselves clean. Apart from that, it is essential for hydration, food production and sanitation too.Polluted water isn’t just dirty, it’s deadly. Some 1.8 million people die every year of diarrheal diseases like cholera. Tens of millions of others are seriously sickened by a host of water-related ailments-many of which are easily preventable.

AJMAL FOUNDATION takes initiatives to provide access to safe water to the people of areas where there is scarcity of water by installing tube wells and ring wells. It is aimed for those people who are devoid of potable water owing to factors like climate change, such as altered weather-patterns (including droughts or floods), increased pollution, increased human demand and overuse of water.

Why is it so urgent?

As water plays a vital role in the day to day life of a person, using contaminated water can cause various diseases. Education suffers when sick children miss school. Economic opportunities are routinely lost to the impacts of rampant illness and the time-consuming processes of acquiring water where it is not readily available. Children and women bear the brunt of these burdens

How will we do it?

A Project Implementation Committee will be set up consisting of the core members of the organization. After a confirmation of funds from the donor organization, our team will start executing the plan that was formed during the project preparation. The beneficiaries will include the people living Below Poverty Line (BPL), the differently-abled, widows, orphans, victims of natural and manmade calamities, who do not have access to safe water. They will be identified with the help of local prominent persons. Quotations for the materials of construction will be collected from a few known local vendors and comparative statements will be prepared. Thereafter it will be given to the purchase department for procurement of the required items.

The construction materials available at the best market prices will be selected and purchase orders will be placed to the right vendors whose rates are found to be apt. The materials required will be delivered by the vendors according to the desired specifications. The quality of items purchased will be checked and ensured by the purchase department. Eventually, the construction of the houses will start under the supervision of Civil Engineers deputed by AJMAL FOUNDATION.

Project Evaluation

AJMAL FOUNDATION has its Project team visiting the sites of the tube wells and ring wells that are built for the poor families every 6 months to follow up with the beneficiaries. They maintain a record of the condition of the tubewells or ring wells and maintenance works if needed. They also keep a track of the beneficiaries’ progress upon receival of the tube wells or ring wells.

What have we done in the past?

AJMAL FOUNDATION has already accomplished a number of similar projects on its own as well as in collaboration with other organizations.
