Observation of World Environment Day – 2026

World Environment Day 2026 was observed with great enthusiasm and active participation at Ajmal Modern Residential School, Bhelowguri. The programme was organized by Ajmal Foundation in collaboration with the Nagaon South Division under the Environment, Forests & Climate Change Department, Government of Assam.

The programme was graced by several distinguished guests, including Mr. Deepak Mahanta, Range Forest Officer, Jamuna Valley Range, Doboka; Mr. Dipan Deka, Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Nagaon South Division; Dr. Khasrul Islam, Director, Ajmal Foundation; and Dr. S. H. Choudhury, Chief Advisor, Ajmal CSR, along with other dignitaries and officials.

During the programme, the resource persons highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, climate change mitigation, and the need for afforestation. They explained the ecological and economic significance of various tree species such as Agar, Mahogany, Titachapa, Bogipoma, and several other indigenous and valuable plants. The speakers encouraged students and participants to take responsibility for protecting the environment and maintaining ecological balance.

A plantation drive was conducted within the school campus, where students, teachers, guests, and officials actively participated in planting saplings. A rally and road show were also organized by the students of Ajmal Modern Residential School (AMRS) to spread awareness among the public about environmental protection, tree plantation, and sustainable living.

The programme concluded successfully with a strong message on environmental stewardship and collective action for a greener and healthier future.
